Public Art Unveiling: Misi-mîkisak and William Hawrelak Park Reopening

The Edmonton Arts Council will unveil "Misi-mîkisak" by artist Cheyenne Rain LeGrande ᑭᒥᐘᐣ. This 14-foot-tall fibreglass sculpture depicts a beaded earring, serving as a contemporary interpretation that honours the cultural significance of beadwork in Indigenous communities. The unveiling ceremony includes remarks from the artist regarding the inspiration behind the work, reflections from an Elder, and a musical performance by CIKWES. The unveiling coincides with the grand reopening of William Hawrelak Park, which includes various activities throughout the park.
