The Pacific Spirit Park Society (PSPS) EcoTeam conducts environmental restoration efforts at the Acadia Forest. This initiative focuses on removing invasive species, specifically English Holly, English Ivy, and Himalayan blackberry, to restore the area's ecological health. The site has a history of disturbance dating back to mid-20th-century land clearing, which resulted in a persistent, young red alder forest. Ongoing efforts include planting conifers and deciduous trees to facilitate a transition toward a coniferous forest. Volunteers participate in invasive plant removal using provided tools and gloves. Participants are advised to wear sturdy boots and weather-appropriate clothing, including long pants for protection. Snacks and refreshments are provided, though volunteers are expected to bring their own water. Participants under 19 years old require a signed parent or guardian permission form. The session may be cancelled due to high wind conditions.
