Ephemeral Language / Langue éphémère, by Sébastien Gaudette

Sébastien Gaudette’s exhibition explores the creative versatility of paper as both a material and an inspiration. The artist utilizes his background in illusion and technique to transform paper into large-scale, site-specific sculptures that emerge from gallery walls and floor surfaces, resembling organic, living forms. Beyond three-dimensional installations, the collection features trompe l’oeil paintings that mimic the appearance of crumpled paper and everyday items like Post-it notes. By integrating acrylic and spray paint, the artist blurs the line between physical texture and flat surfaces, presenting a study of paper in its various documented and sculptural states.
